:: LOS MARIACHI
The music of 'Los Mariachi' has its roots in the 19th century Mexico and more accurately, in the village of Halisko during the years of the french emperor, Maximilian. According to tradition, their name comes from the french word 'marriage' which means wedding; it was given to the Mexican musicians by the frenchmen, who were watching them perform in local weddings. Their music and lyrics describe life in the country, the people's sorrow and joy, and especially their love towards nature, earth and love itself. This mexican tradition will live on through the simple but melodic music of 'Los Mariachi'. This famous group will present the mexican musical heritage in Cyprus. 'Los Mariachi Sol Latino' consists of eight musicians and four dancers.

:: ESPERIA DANCE COMPANY
It is a tribute to Spain, which is the born place of the Balletto dell'Esperia, before the Company moved to Italy. As a stylized introduction the performance starts with the "7th Danze Lorchiane", dedicated to a great Andalusian poet created on traditional music elaborated by the same F.Garcia Lorca and performed by Paco de Lucia. In the second part Spain is represented by seven different symbols drawn from seven icons that follow closely the picassian style. The tower, the sun, the eye, the horse, the bull, the mouth and the moon. The performance is the result of the perception of different realities interpretated in a personal vision of the actor, this results from a choreography of lyrical shades, hints of irony but also an affectionate caricature of this marvelous country. It is also a musical journey trough pieces that go from the melodies of De Falla to the vibrant flamenco of Estrella Morente, from the "coplas" to "pasodobles" to arrive at the Arabic andalusian music of Calamus. The entire ballet develops in the context of an imaginary landscape where the constant element is the presence of a mysterious character who speaks of a post common to all the Mediterranean civilizations: the old peasant woman it is these characters that "move the strings" of the performance, both as spectators and to assist the telling of forgotten tales.
